HighChem Company Limited (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Ushio Taka, hereinafter referred to as HighChem, announced its membership in the 'Japan Hydrogen Value Chain Promotion Council' (JH2A) as of May 25. Established on December 7, 2020, JH2A aims to enhance global cooperation in the hydrogen sector and develop the hydrogen supply chain. HighChem's participation highlights its commitment to contributing to the hydrogen economy and strengthening international energy collaborations.

JH2A is an organization that aims to build a hydrogen value chain and works as a cross-sectional organization to 1) create demand for hydrogen, 2) reduce costs through scale-up and technological innovation, and 3) provide funding to businesses. Participating companies include companies and organizations from a wide range of industries, including not only the automobile and Energy industries, but also manufacturing industries such as chemicals and steel, financial institutions, and the service industry.

HighChem has engaged in several significant projects to promote a low-carbon society, starting with the sale of hydrogen and fuel cell-related products. The company is participating in a METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) project aimed at building a hydrogen supply chain in China utilizing untapped by-product hydrogen and hydrogen derived from renewable energy sources. Additionally, HighChem is involved in a NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) technology development project to produce PX (paraxylene), a primary component of PET bottles and textiles currently derived from petroleum, using hydrogen to transform carbon dioxide. These initiatives underscore HighChem's commitment to advancing hydrogen use and contributing to the realization of a low-carbon society.

In participating in JH2A, through our activities as a Bridge between Japan and China that we have cultivated over the years, we will work together with participating businesses that share our aspirations to further implement hydrogen in society in order to achieve carbon neutrality.
