HighChem Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Ushio Taka, hereinafter refered to as HighChem) aims to develop important materials for alkaline water electrolysis equipment that enables the production of green hydrogen in the Japanese and overseas markets. We would like to inform you that we have signed a sales agency agreement with Carbon Energy Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (refered to below as, Carbon Energy), a Chinese climate tech company, in November 2023.

Since hydrogen does not emit CO2 even when used as an Energy source, its practical use in society is being promoted as a trump card for a decarbonized society. Among these, alkaline water electrolysis equipment is a device that produces "green hydrogen" derived from renewable Energy, and because it can produce hydrogen without emitting CO2, technological development is progressing all over the world. 

The key material for the alkaline water electrolysis equipment developed by Carbon Energy is an innovative technology that requires a high level of technical ability. It is a high-performance and highly durable product that has superior airtightness and lower resistivity than conventional products, making it possible to easily produce high-purity hydrogen with less electricity. It also exhibits a high mass retention rate and wear resistance even in high-temperature environments, and maintains its performance even after long periods of use. These innovative technologies are expected to reduce the production cost of green hydrogen, promote energy conservation, and lead to a shift to renewable energy.

This collaboration between HighChem and Carbon Energy will serve as a new driving force for the international spread of alkaline water electrolysis equipment, and will solidify the cooperative relationship between the two companies in the field of decarbonization technology. In addition, we will fully leverage the technological capabilities and market advantages of both companies to globally roll out even more innovative products and services.
