Adds "CMS-mp" to Support Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Multi-Sourcing with Quality Comparable to Existing Products
HighChem Company Limited (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Yuichi Taka) has expanded its lineup of CMS (chloromethylstyrene) monomers for low-dielectric resins by introducing CMS-mp, a mixed meta-/para-isomer grade. Designed to deliver a quality level comparable to products currently available on the market, the new grade will be offered to customers seeking to strengthen Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and establish multi-source procurement strategies.
Introducing CMS-mp with Quality Designed to Match Existing Products
The newly added CMS-mp grade has been designed with reference to CMS-mp products that have been widely used in the market for many years. Its quality has been engineered to achieve comparable levels in terms of isomer composition, purity, and key impurities. By providing quality characteristics equivalent to existing products, HighChem aims to meet customer requirements while supporting BCP initiatives and multi-source procurement of raw materials.
Meeting the Growing Demand for Low-Dielectric Resins
The rapid adoption of generative AI and the ongoing upgrade and expansion of communication infrastructure for Beyond 5G and 6G are driving demand for next-generation communication materials capable of supporting high-frequency, high-speed, high-capacity, and low-latency data transmission.
Among these materials, low-dielectric resins, which reduce signal transmission loss in printed circuit boards, are attracting significant attention as key materials for next-generation communication substrates. At the same time, demand is increasing for stable supplies and broader product options for the functional resin monomers used as their key raw materials, as these highly specialized monomers are difficult to manufacture and are supplied by only a limited number of manufacturers.
HighChem signed a sales agency agreement in March 2025 with Shenzhen Low-k Dielectric Materials Co., Ltd., a Shenzhen-based developer and manufacturer of functional monomers for electronic materials. Through this partnership, HighChem has initiated the joint development of manufacturing technologies for the functional resin monomer CMS (chloromethylstyrene) and BVPE (1,2-bis(4-vinylphenyl)ethane)—a key raw material for low-dielectric substrate materials—as well as market development activities in Japan.
HighChem's Comprehensive CMS Product Lineup
CMS consists of three isomers—para, meta, and ortho—and the composition of these isomers has a significant impact on the structure and properties of the resulting resin. Selecting the appropriate isomer composition is therefore essential, depending on the intended application and required performance.
The newly introduced CMS-mp grade contains 45–55% para-isomer, 45–55% meta-isomer, and no more than 1% ortho-isomer. Based on long-established commercial products, it has been designed to achieve comparable quality not only in isomer composition but also in purity and key impurity levels.
With the addition of CMS-mp, HighChem's CMS series now offers five different isomer compositions. This expanded lineup enables customers to select the optimum composition for their specific applications and performance requirements, while also providing a product option with quality characteristics closely aligned with existing commercial products.

Through its collaborative development and quality management framework with Chinese manufacturers, HighChem is strengthening the stable supply of functional monomers in the Japanese market.
