 HighChem Company Limited Ltd. (President and CEO: Ushio Taka Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Ushio Takao, hereinafter referred to as HighChem) is set to host a presentation on stage at our booth during "EcoPro 2022," from December 7th to 9th. The event will feature Mr. MB, a renowned fashion influencer with over 390,000 subscribers on YouTube, as a speaker.

A men's fashion influencer who advocates, "Clothes can be made using logic." He has over 390,000 YouTube subscribers and is the best-selling author of over 2 million copies of books such as ``This is how to wear clothes'' and ``The fastest way to look stylish.'' Popular videos include logical explanations of inexpensive ways to dress using products such as Uniqlo and GU based on sociology and human psychology.

HighChem has developed a new material "HIGHLACT®" that, when incorporated, will lead to CO2 reduction. There will be focus on the "plastic-free" and "sustainable fashion" initiatives that apparel companies are also strengthening. We will have a booth at EcoPro 2022 to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from December 7 to 9, where we will exhibit clothes made of HIGHLACT®, a fashion show wearing dresses, and a talk session where we and textile-related companies will talk about "clothing of the future". Mr. MB is scheduled to take the stage on December 7th at 10:40~.

“What exactly are Sustainable Materials?”

At the presentation stage, popular men's fashion influencer Mr. MB will conduct a fashion review of "HIGHLACT®," a new material derived from corn-based PLA, including the latest fabric under development and men's apparel set to launch next spring. Additionally, Mr. MB will engage in a talk session with HighChem's Sustainability Division Head, Mr. Yuichi Taka, discussing perspectives on the latest sustainable materials. The highlight of this stage will be Mr. MB's candid assessment of these new sustainable materials.

Since PLA (polylactic acid) uses biomass such as corn as its raw material, it absorbs CO2 during the plant growth process, and is a carbon-neutral material that releases no CO2 into the atmosphere even if it is incinerated.

It is also biodegradable, decomposing into water and carbon dioxide under certain conditions, creating an ideal cycle in which the product returns to nature after use.

Furthermore, since it is made from lactic acid, it has natural antibacterial properties, and has attracted attention as a textile material in recent years.

HIGHLACT® developed with “the power of chemistry x traditional Japanese culture”

PLA, the raw material for HIGHLACT®, has lower strength and heat resistance than existing plastics, so it has until now been considered an unsuitable raw material for fibers.

HighChem has developed HIGHLACT® by combining the chemical technology it has cultivated over the years with traditional Japanese Weaving and dyeing techniques.
