HighChem Co., Ltd. Leveraging its strong business foundation in both Japan and China, HighChem aims to bring the true appeal of these unique Chinese ingredients to Japan.

Under the theme “The World of Hidden Chinese Ingredients,” the exhibit will introduce ingredients that are still relatively unknown in Japan, such as oat noodles, sweet potato noodles, and “Haitian Oyster Sauce,” the top-selling brand in China.

The booth will also feature a tasting session supervised by Chef Li Hong, who heads a group of nine authentic Chinese restaurants in the Tokyo-Yokohama area, with “Lan Yuan” in Toranomon Hills as its flagship. The tasting will showcase dishes using traditional Chinese ingredients such as sweet potato noodles..

Champon-style Sweet Potato Noodles

This dish features vermicelli made from sweet potatoes, which has long been popular in regions such as Hunan and Sichuan. Widely used in spicy dishes like “hot and sour soup” and “hot pot” in China, and increasingly in Japan in dishes like “mala soup,” this ingredient is essential in Chinese cuisine. The exhibition version is a champon-style soup with pork belly and vegetables in a clam-based broth. The chewy texture of the sweet potato noodles adds a delightful touch.
